A Social Enterprise

We are a social enterprise. What is a social enterprise, you ask? Here is a breakdown in real terms: 10% of the company's money is re-invested in the local community. This means when you rest your head at the Cheeky Monkey, you're also helping pay for school fees, medical expenses and helping to create local jobs. 

Our team is paid well compared to the local rates, they also receive a contribution for health insurance and our staff keep all of their tips . We hire people that are graduates of local NGO's that come from poor backgrounds, all of our food is free range and organic, no MSG is used in the preparation of our food. We recycle cans, bottles and plastics as standard practice.

It is not all about the "Moula"

While everyone knows that a huge mountain of money would be great, it's not the reason we've chosen to get into the guesthouse business. We're more interested in creating an awesome environment where world travelers can converge, exchange and bond. It's a win win win- new people make new relationships while giving back to the community. We also have all of the normal recycling and eco-friendly policies that you would expect from a bunch of  Monkeys.
